5You will need to purchase a recreation access permit and review the IEP rules of use. There are 3 types of permits available: Individual annual ($50), Family annual ($80), and Daily ($15/vehicle). Permits may be purchased from our network of local vendors.
Empire Trails (non-motorized bicycle and hiking trail) located near Spirit Lake. Daily non-motorized permit $2.50 or purchase an annual permit for unimited use.
Weather conditions in mountainous terrain is subject to sudden changes. We recommend that you be prepared for wet, cold, and windy conditions even during summer months.
For those accessing back country behind closed gates during our off season, be aware that changing snow conditions can make travel treacherous. What you can travel over during the early morning hours can become soft and uncrossable by mid morning.
We strongly advise that you share your planned route and itinerary with a responsible person. If you are the responsible person and someone you know has not returned when expected, call our 24 hour hotline at 866-437-7722.

No green trees are to be taken on IEP lands, even if it is a blow down.
ATV's must be 50" or less to go around closed gates.
